A New Daughter (Part 10) - TGAR Caption

“Alright girls, you can get whatever you want today… within reason of course!” Karen, Bea, and Lexi were out for a day together. Their girl’s “night” was starting off a bit earlier than you would expect. Lexi was expecting something slumber-party-esque, but it seemed like Karen wanted to spoil them a bit. Although Lexi couldn’t possibly imagine why, when she asked Karen just said “Do I need a reason to spoil my girls?”

“Kare - Mom, can I get this?” Lexi held out a pair of pajamas. Despite having been a girl for quite some time now, they were still catching up on the essentials, this being one of them. “They’re… cute.” Despite being pretty open about her likes and dislikes with Bea, Lexi still blushed when she was as open with Karen in that matter.

“Do you like cute things?” Karen said with the tilt of her head. It wasn’t like it was any mystery, but she hadn’t ever heard Lexi put it into words. She had been dressing more and more feminine of her own accord over time, she even got a manicure and ear piercings without saying a word to Karen, but even so.

“I do! Is that… weird?” Lexi held them down. She looked around her. It didn’t feel weird being amongst the women’s clothing section anymore… she felt at home. She was still… “her,” but she had definitely become a girl over the past few months.

“No, no! Not weird at all. Perfectly normal for a girl your age.” A girl her age, huh? Lexi still wasn’t sure how she felt about that, but at least Karen was open to her clothing choices. So she didn’t hesitate to then drag Karen over to buy her some new nail polish that they could use that night. “Nail polish too, huh? Alright.”

“Lexi! Come, come!” Bea ran over and took Lexi by the hand. “These are cute! We should get them!” Before them sat matching bracelets that read “Sisters” a smaller one for Lexi and a bigger one for Bea… of course. “Then we’ll always have something to match one another, I think it’s fun.” Lexi wasn’t opposed to the idea, although she thought it was a touch cheesy. Something to show they were sisters forever… sure, why not?

Karen smiled as she walked behind her girls, the two looking around as they stood side by side with their matching bracelets. If you didn’t know any better, you would think they had always been that way… and Karen couldn’t help but think she had come to think of Lexi as more of a daughter herself. And at this point, she wasn’t sure Lexi would mind hearing as much. She had come into her own, somehow. She wouldn’t blame the girl if she fought back, but maybe she had more of a feminine streak in her than either of them thought. She looked over and saw a boy and girl walking arm in arm and looked back at Lexi. Would she grow up to be like that…? After staring at her for a moment, Lexi piped up.

“What?” Lexi looked herself up and down for whatever Karen was staring at. “Hah… nothing! Just thinking about how cute you are.” Karen deflected. Although, it wasn’t that far from the truth, in a way.

“Oh… thanks?” They made their way to an ice cream shop after Bea insisted that they go. It gave them a moment to sit down and talk while they were on their way home, so Karen didn’t raise any complaints. They had no shortage of things to talk about right now. “So, girls, how’s school?”

“It’s good! I’m doing good in all of my classes, I’m well on my way to graduating!” Bea happily reported. She had been doing good in school recently, thankfully. Karen thought Lexi’s transformation would throw their lives out of whack, but thankfully Bea has persisted. Once Bea graduated, Lexi would be going to school alone for a little bit… She would say if Lexi even continued to go to school, but what else would happen? Was this really… their lives now? What should Karen do… “And you, Lexi?”

“Wha- me?” Lexi looked up from her ice cream surprised. She didn’t think the question was directed at her in the first place. “Well, I did say girls didn’t I?” Lexi blushed. “Oh, yeah… Well, it’s fine. It’s not like it’s anything new to me.” That was the truth. Lexi had always had a very mathematical brain. Even if her outward appearance masked it, she still very much so exceeded in school, for the most part. Karen wondered if Lexi would ever take any extracurricular activities… “And you’ve made some friends… good! I’m glad.” Karen wouldn’t pry too much yet, as much as she would like to. Lexi had made some friends, but had she met any boys? How did that go? She didn’t know of course, but Lexi was completely blind to those matters at school. Frankly, she wouldn’t think about relationships like that unless Karen or Bea brought it up to her, which they hadn’t.

“Well, let’s head home, shall we? I think we’re due for a bit of rest and relaxation back at home!”
