Ground Rules (Pt. 3) - TG Caption

“Heh-eh~” Amber proudly gave herself some mental praise. The last few weeks had been only ups as she got used to being who she was meant to be. Not only was she making a convincing enough Amber - but she was on her way up the ranks amongst her classmates. Girls envied her, and boys wanted her. Hell, if her “swap class teacher’s” approving gaze was anything to go by, she was doing something right. She would ask him how things were but… she didn't want to risk failing the class once she was this committed. Although silly, spending what little allowance Clara allowed her to have on actually cute (and hot!) clothes really paid off. Made her feel confident. Made her feel free. Which was funny, since if you asked her before the swap if she would enjoy dressing this way, she probably would have said no… Regardless, it was a blessing that the school didn't care much for a dress code, high schoolers being so hard to police and all, because she was happy.

But, all good things had to come to an end eventually, and since she wasn't given the okay to hang out with her girlfriends by Clara today, she would have to change back into her boring clothes. That is… if she could find them. After slipping into the bathroom as the bell rang, and opening her backpack, she realized her modest clothes weren't there. “Shit!” Did she leave them somewhere? Why would she? They didn't have gym class today… She didn't come here without wearing them at all, did she? These thoughts raced through her mind till she was brought back to reality by a familiar voice to her left. “Amber?” It was that boy she met at the mall that first day she went shopping.  “What are you doing in here?” It took her a moment to process what he meant by that… until she realized she had found herself in the men’s restroom “Ah! I'm so sorry, my mind is all over the place. And then I panicked and now… ugh.” Amber quickly picked up her things while he watched her scurry about. “What’s wrong? Is it your Mom again?”

“Yeah. She won't let me wear the clothes I like… like I told you. And now I can't find my change of clothes I've been bringing every day. She'll kill me.” He thought for a second before taking off his varsity jacket and draping it over Amber's shoulders. “Problem solved!” Amber began to blush immediately it was thoughtful… and it made her feel safe. Like she was wrapped in his embrace. And yet she didn't even know his name… she had thought about him since they first met, but she could never find him. And now here they were again… him comforting Amber without even knowing it. “Uhh, this is embarrassing but what's your name?” Without judgment, he smiled. “Lucas.” “Well, Lucas. What’s your number?”

The following week Amber found herself texting back and forth with Lucas constantly. Whenever she got a moment to, she was updating him with whatever was going on in her life, school-wise or personally, barring the fact that she had swapped into the body she was in now. And of course, she wanted to know everything about him as well. She wouldn't ever acknowledge it, but Lucas was her main focus every day. Amber got a real feel for teenage angst at that time. Always wanting what her “mother” wouldn't let her have. Clara wasn't even actually her Mom, but these days she sure felt like it! It was Amber's house, Clara should let her hang out with whoever she wanted, even if it was a boy! And who was she to say what Amber should or shouldn't do? Amber's position as man of the house had been dynamically feminized out of her…

Like any other day, Amber had been texting Lucas as she moved from class to class. Until an announcement came through over the intercom. “Just a reminder that Prom is only a month away! Remember that you can’t take a student from another school without…” It was semantics from that point on, the same rules they had every year. This meant nothing to “Anthony” but to Amber… well, it would be weird if she didn’t go. A lot of the other students realized this too as a hush spread across the room. The only thing bringing Amber back to reality being a buzz from her phone. It was Lucas. “I know I can’t ask you at your house or anything, your Mom being the way she is… so I’ll just ask like this. Would you like to go to Prom with me?” Going to prom in someone else’s body was a crazy idea. But what was even crazier? That Amber was about to say yes.
