Put in Her Place (Part 6)

    "WOOOOOO!!!! GO KEITH!!!"

    It had been a week since Dad and I had our little talk. And in that time, the swim team was all set up for the big competition. And right now, was the most important part, Keith's race! 

    "You got this!!!"

    Since then I've accepted my true feelings. Feelings for a boy, no less. With every fiber of my being, I hoped he felt the same. Any advances were getting me nowhere, he was clueless, that was part of his charm though. All I could do for now, though, was cheer him on.

     "Yeahhhhhh!" Our side of the benches roared in victory, Keith had done it, he won.

     Not long after Keith came over to sit down. He came to ME.

    "There's my biggest cheerleader! What did you think?" Biggest cheerleader? So he noticed? Oh god. I have to be bright red.

    "You did great Keith!"

    "Thanks 'Lexa, sorry you didn't win yours." Lexa? That's so cute, he has a name for me!

    "Ohhh, I'm not too broken up about it. Say, you gonna celebrate with the team after?"

    "Yeah, but first I have something I need to ask of you." A request of me? What could he possibly be getting at here?

    "Alexa, I promised myself I would ask you if I won today, would you go to prom with me?"

    "Oh my god! Yes! Yes! A thousand times yes!

    "Really? Thank god. I wasn't sure you would" What a dolt.

    "Of course! I can't wait!" I pulled him into a hug, which inadvertently allowed me to feel that bulge of his again. I had to be the happiest girl in the world in that moment. I had to go pick out a dress! And figure out what I wanted to do with my hair, and my make-up and what we'll do... I have to tell Mom and Dad too! Dad's been my biggest advocate in all of this, he's gonna be so proud.
