A Day in The City of Light
“How did this even happen…” Robin looked out over the cityscape and the reflection in her tea. The reflection coming back was that of a beautiful brunette woman, one she could hardly have imagined even being around not long before. The great shift sent everyone into complete chaos, and yet the city went on as if nothing happened. People trying to move on with their lives like nothing had ever happened… just like her. She was surprised to wake up in a woman’s body at all… but the one she had now was almost too good to be true. Shapely, soft, supple, the whole package, and so of course it was hard to then take that next step of, well, moving on. It was all so foreign. She was treated differently, and she acted differently in turn. And because of that, everything very quickly moved downhill.
“You’re beautiful…” The man Robin had just climbed out of bed with stepped out behind her, surprising her. She thought he would still be asleep for a while, after what they had done. Robin was looking for some sense of normalcy earlier and found herself out drinking. Any place that offered the slightest bit of alcohol had been flooded with people recently for various reasons, escapism, searching for a purpose or a job or the past, or aiming for a hookup. Robin definitely wasn’t looking for a one-night stand, but somehow she found herself with one, or at least she thought so. This random guy came up to her and hit on her and she… felt a lot of stuff that she had never felt before. Clearly one thing she had to learn about her new life was her newfound sexual preferences, and they were very clear… and strong.
“O-oh, thank you…” Robin blushed profusely. Despite a classy outward appearance, she was sheepish on occasion and had a hard time taking compliments since she didn’t receive them very often. Until recently, of course.
“So, what’s next?” He wrapped his arms around her and asked. What was next? Robin hadn’t thought that far ahead… she just sort of thought they would move on, maybe see each other once or twice more and then they would move on with trying to figure out their lives.
“Well… I thought you would make this a one-time thing, was it not?” She of course voiced her original thoughts, although she was greeted with the opposite reaction she would have thought, a chuckle and a smirk that made her heart skip a beat with glee…
“Are you kidding?” He gestured up and down towards her, indicating the whole package. “After the woman I met last night, why would I?” They did talk a little bit. He knew Robin wasn’t always “Robin” but he didn’t care. Nor did she care if he was always who he was now, really. What mattered was the connection that quickly formed between them at a glance. A sexual one, and a surface-level understanding that they enjoyed each other’s company. “I know the world is in disarray but… what do you say we give this crazy
thing a try? Let’s go get coffee, and get to know each other in some other ways.”
“Y’know, I’d like that.” Maybe… they could figure out what they wanted in this post-shift world together. Robin couldn’t wait.
