Original art by Hanagata (Absolute legend, btw)School Again?
You finally finished your schooling. A PhD wasn't just within reach, you had it! You had to celebrate! So you did, you saw your family, your friends, it was great! Although, as happy as you were, you couldn't help but think about what school would have been like if you hadn't spent so much time buried in school work. Was it the best thing to do for a well paying job? Sure. But you would be lying if you hadn't wished things went a little bit differently. Tomorrow is a new day though, free from school, you went to sleep, happy and tired...
The morning was hazy at first... you got up, blew the hair out of your eyes, almost rolled out of your bed for some reason, and got ready. Going through the motions, putting on your uniform... it felt breezy. Doing your hair... it was a bit long? And doing your makeup... makeup?! Sure enough the girl in the mirror was a, well, girl! What had happened? You were a girl! A girl younger than you, almost, if not already, an adult. Hazely-brown hair, not unlike your own. But unlike your own, it was much, much longer. Beyond shoulder length. Your face had soft feminine features, like yours if you were born a girl... Your makeup was already done... not something you even knew how to do, but somehow you had. The counter sat higher than it had when you were this age... You were definitely short, even for a girl. The soft, cute gasp you let out told you that you were definitely a woman, inside and out. Speaking of outside, you were wearing a school uniform, but not your old one... it was the girls uniform for the high-school you went to.
"Leah, are you awake?" Your Mom's voice called out, that must mean you were in your old house... sure enough, this bedroom was your old one, with a handful of noticeable... feminine differences.
"Mom?! Mom, I'm a girl!" You had to confide in her, of course. She probably wouldn't believe you were her son, but you could convince her.
"Well, yeah, I can see that honey. Are you still tired? You have to get to school, you don't want to miss your first day!" She had no idea what you were talking about. And if her response was anything to go by...
"No, I'm your son! Liam!" This would confirm things. You didn't have siblings so...
"No... you're my daughter. This is a strange joke honey... I don't get you kids!" She laughed it off and walked off to the living room... her daughter, huh?
...
Going to school again was strange... nobody had known you as anything but Leah. There were some familiar faces, of course, it seemed like you were in the past entirely. But for the most part, things were completely different. Your high-school partner was... not the same gender anymore. Or at least, from what you could tell they were in a similar scenario, it didn't seem like they had swapped the same way that you had, because everything was the status quo to them. It seemed like you had a romantic relationship, but you couldn't really get a read on it. "I'll see you later then?"
"Haha... uh, yeah! Sure." You had really just played along with everything everyone said. Even having done so, it was a bit of a shock for a new girl to approach you and make some... romantic allusions as well. Leah was a player, it seemed. Or just really close with this girl.
"So, see you tonight? My place?" Seriously, what were you two? Guess there was only one way to find out... that was a decision for later.
"What? Uh... sure! Maybe." Either way, being outgoing hadn't been in your nature before. It wasn't like you couldn't but you spent so much time in class. Speaking of class, everyone was really impressed with how you "progressed over the summer" because class took quite literally no effort at all. There was sort of a beauty in that... now you had a chance to redo things. You were cute, fun, loved, and smart! You still had your knowledge... if you wanted a degree it would take half the amount of time, maybe less... and you could do whatever you want anyways! Go out, experience the crazy joys life had to offer this time around! The attention was to die for, fashion was fun! And your friends were awesome! Maybe becoming a cute girl wasn't some crazy curse... but a blessing.
