Put In Her Place (Part 7)
"Well Mom, how do I look?" I did a little twirl for her, I must have been preparing for me and Keith's date for two or three hours now.
"You look beautiful, honey, honestly." She really meant it too, not to brag, but I'd have been head over heels for me thirty years or so ago. That wasn't who I was these days though, of course. But was it enough for him? I wanted to impress him, I wanted him to NEED me.
"Are you sure? Should I have gone with a different dress? Yeah, maybe I should have... or maybe its my hair? No, make-up?" It's funny how quickly my thoughts seemed to spiral out of control concerning Keith. Who knew I had these sorts of emotions in me.
"Honey, you look fine, relax! It's almost time for you to go anyways."
God, I was nervous. I suppose it was only natural, it's technically my first date... with a boy, as well. And prom, no less. It was supposed to be a special, romantic night. Thinking about it made my face blood red.
I came downstairs and Dad saw me for the first time like this.
"Alexa, you're beautiful! Who would have thought, you dressing to impress a boy, going to prom.. I'm happy for you." We shared a knowing look, Mom had no idea what was going on though. He was right, it was strange how things had turned out. And how well they turned out, for that matter. Just then we heard a knocking at the door. This might be it...
"Hello sir, I'm here to pick up Alexa?"
"Of course! You must be Keith, I've heard so much about you... all good things I assure you."
Just then, I walked up to the front door, and there he was. We both took a moment to take each other in. He was handsome, dreamy too, I couldn't believe this was happening. Most would say he's lucky to go out with a girl like me, but I was pretty lucky myself.
"Hi..." I gave a sheepish wave. I wasn't sure what to say.
"You look... beautiful." It seems he was just as nervous as me though, that was good.
"Y-you too." That was stupid.
"Haha! Thanks Alexa. Well, are you ready to go?"
"Of course!"
"Alright you two, take care, yeah? And Keith, take good care of my daughter okay?"
"Daaad..." He was embarrassing. I'm grateful for how understanding he is though.
"Oh, and Alexa?" He pulled me in close. Whispered in my ear so only I could hear. "Me and your mother will be away for the night... so if you need to use the house, its yours for the rest of the night. Only if you want, of course."
"Dad, oh my god." I had been flustered before, but this was something else. Should I...?
"Well off you go, kiddos. Have fun!" And so, me and Keith left, and one of the best nights of my life began.
Such a wholesome story this ❤️
